jayshepheard

Following a long background in music from drumming in high school bands to music PR and several years working at UK online music store Juno, Jay Shepheard first arrived on the scene in 2007 with the release of his debut EP “Black Label 19″ on Compost. With the help of strong DJ support the EP gave Jay a good profile straight off the bat which was built upon nicely with the follow up EP “Black Label 28″. Both of the 4 track EPs received critical acclaim from DJs, music lovers and the press alike and earned Jay a nomination for Best Deep House act of 2007 in the Beatport Mucic Awards.

Along side his studio productions Jay is also building a reputation on the worlds dance floors, using a combination of DJing and Ableton Live software to showcase new, unreleased and exclusive material at venues and clubs such as Fabric, The End and T Bar in London, Hive in Zurich and DIY in Hamburg.  2010 is already looking to be a busy year for Jay with further12″s on the way from Compost Black, a stack of remix projects and his DJ mix of the best Black Label tracks from last year on the 3rd label CD compilation. OOFT Music February 5th

ooft2

2009 was the year Ooft Music rose out of the Glasgow underground. Together with The Revenge on thier Five20East and Instruments of Rapture imprints they unleashed a simmering hotpot of exclusive edits, deep-as-you-like house, forgotten funk, 80s boogie and more. When heroes as diverse as Todd Terje & Prins Thomas through to Chris Duckenfield & Laurent Garnier are digging the music, you know you’re on to a good thing.

In support this month, Pete’s 50th are an ad-hoc party currently causing a stir in East London. The plan is… there is no plan. Operating out of Dalston sweat-pit Visions whenever they choose to, recent guests have included Soul Clap, Cage & Aviary and Serge Santiago. Read the rest of this entry »

Joakim 4th December

joakim

For our final party of 2009 we welcome back one of very favourite DJs and Tigersushi label boss Joakim. If you were in attendance last year at our fourth birthday party you will have heard Joakim tear the place apart with an exquisite set through disco, acid house, techno and some wonderfully wonky electronic gems. Fresh from releasing his new album ‘Milky Ways’ to critical acclaim and touring the world with his live band Joakim and The Disco, Joakim returns to the decks for us to close 2009 in style.

Also this month, and because it’s nearly Xmas we thought it would be fun to have a fancy dress theme; with a twist! Inspired by rubbish presents at Xmas we want to see you all in shit jumpers. You know the sort, jumpers with animals on, jumpers with sequins on, those bad fruit of the loom and naf naf sweaters from your teens, jumpers with outrageous shoulderpads and those mohair nightmares you gran got you in 1989. Get thinking, because the best shit jumper will win free entry into Polaroid for you and a friend for the whole on 2010! Read the rest of this entry »

Greg Wilson Live at Polaroid

Greg Wilson

This month’s podcast comes from Greg Wilson who’s been kind enough to share his live set from the club last month with us.  As we’ve come to expect from the man, it’s total quality from start to finish, with plenty of Greg’s edits, mash ups and overdubs from his trusty Revox machine throughout.  Enjoy…
