Polaroid Re-Awakening

Posted: Jan 6th, 2012 : By:

After a two year hiatus and many memorable nights at Wire, Polaroid are excited to announce we are back for our first ever Saturday night party at a brand new space. Musicquarium is a gem of a venue hidden away on the outskirts of Leeds city center, its intimate and raw feel coupled with its custom built sound system is the ideal club environment for Polaroid to re-launch.

Sticking to our ethos of quality electronic dance music across the board, we are delighted to present two guest DJs who fit this brief perfectly. Headlining we have drafted in LEO ZERO. Celebrated remixer of Florence & The Machine, Metronomy, Paul Weller and Davie Bowie; acid-house aficionado and originator of London’s infamous Boys Own & Faith parties. Leo’s eclectic DJ style rocks parties around the world mixing house, dub, disco and balearic sounds to rapturous acclaim. His debut album ‘Acid Life’ drops at the end January; penned as a love letter to Chicago & Detroit you can expect to hear searing exclusive cuts from the CD during this party. Is This Disco?

Posted: Jan 11th, 2007 : By:

Since 2004 Polaroid has been at the forefront of pushing new electronic dance music in Leeds. Never ones to conform to any musical genre Polaroid believe in playing good music, whilst drawing on influences from deep disco, acid house and contemporary electronic music. This eclectic musical attitude coupled with a friendly, pretence-free and party centric atmosphere has seen Polaroid become among the first club nights in the UK to showcase artists who have gone on to became heavy-weights in the international dance music world such as Simian Mobile Disco, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, In Flagranti, Joakim and Todd Terje amongst many others.

OOFT!

ooft2

2009 was the year Ooft Music rose out of the Glasgow underground. Together with The Revenge on thier Five20East and Instruments of Rapture imprints they unleashed a simmering hotpot of exclusive edits, deep-as-you-like house, forgotten funk, 80s boogie and more. When heroes as diverse as Todd Terje & Prins Thomas through to Chris Duckenfield & Laurent Garnier are digging the music, you know you’re on to a good thing.

In support this month, Pete’s 50th are an ad-hoc party currently causing a stir in East London. The plan is… there is no plan. Operating out of Dalston sweat-pit Visions whenever they choose to, recent guests have included Soul Clap, Cage & Aviary and Serge Santiago. Read the rest of this entry »

Greg Wilson

This month’s podcast comes from Greg Wilson who’s been kind enough to share his live set from the club last month with us.  As we’ve come to expect from the man, it’s total quality from start to finish, with plenty of Greg’s edits, mash ups and overdubs from his trusty Revox machine throughout.  Enjoy…
